Former Governor, Mark Sanford (R), is reportedly seeking the Congressional Seat vacated by Tim Scott (R) according to multiple news sources.  South Carolina’s current Governor, Nikki Haley (R), appointed Scott to replace Senator Jim DeMint (R) who is set to resign from his seat in January.

Sanford, who served as the Palmetto State’s Governor from 2003 to 2011, garnered national attention at the end of his time in office over an extra-marital affair.

The official announcement is not expected until after Christmas.

So far, there is only one official candidate running to fill the seat.

A primary election will be held in March to narrow down the candidates by party.
