(Belton, South Carolina) – The staff for U.S. Senator Jim DeMint will provide a mobile office for the Belton area on Dec. 13.

This is likely to be the last time DeMint and his staff come to Belton after the senator officially resigns his office next month. The conservative republican has served in the senate since he was elected in 2004. He announced plans to resign in January to serve as president of The Heritage Foundation, earlier this week.

The staff will be available to area citizens seeking assistance with the grants process, veterans’ issues, Social Security disability,  and any other federal issues.

The mobile office will be open from 10 a.m. to noon at the Belton City Hall located at 306 Anderson St.  For more information, constituents can contact Senator DeMint’s Greenville office at (864) 233-5366.

When explaining to his supporters why he was leaving, DeMint said:

“My constituents know that being a Senator was never going to be my career. I came to Congress as a citizen legislator and I’ve always been determined to leave it as citizen legislator. South Carolina has a deep bench of conservative leaders and I know Governor Haley will select a great replacement.”
