Ross Perot Endorses Mitt Romney For President | THE JEENYUS CORNER

Former two-time presidential candidate Ross Perot announced he was backing Mitt Romney for the presidency Tuesday, just weeks after declining to endorse a candidate.

“Our country faces a serious choice,” Perot said in a statement released Tuesday morning by the Romney campaign. “The fact of the matter is that the United States is on unsustainable course. At stake is nothing less than our position in the world, our standard of living at home, and our constitutional freedoms. That is why I am endorsing Mitt Romney in his quest for the presidency. We can’t afford four more years in which national debt mushrooms out of control, our government grows, and our military is weakened. Mitt has the background, experience, intelligence, and integrity to turn things around. He has my absolute support.”

Perot recently declined to endorse a candidate in the 2012 election. On his biggest cause, the debt, he told USA Today on Oct. 1, “Nobody that’s running really talks about it, about what we have to do and why we have to do it. They would prefer not to have it discussed.”

Perot’s support dropped precipitously following his 1996 run when he garnered about 8 percent of the vote, after winning 19 percent in 1992. He endorsed George W. Bush for president in the closing days of the 2000 election, and endorsed Mitt Romney for president in 2008.

Perot has an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion.

  1. Ron Paul is another me first and be damn the rest of the country. Congress voted FOR the war in Afganistan and Iraq – then once started the anti war demonstrations began.
Ron Paul was strong against the military and against the war in Afganistan and Iraq. He, as others, failed to support the war effort once it began – just like Vietnam. If you vote FOR a war then we owe it to our service members to support them once they are deployed, keep your anti war whining to yourself.

I am biased there I come from a long line of military veterans; husband, son, father, several uncles, brother and more. Never could I say abandon them for the expediency of a political career.

For two years a group of veterans and family of deployed to Iraq and Afganistan stood on a street corner in support of our military. Several anti war protesters were across the street from us,US flag turned upside down, support Ron Paul signs, and a US flag with the stars configured into a peace sign.

These same people supported a anti American group linked to socialists….and was proud of the association.

Oh well, I enjoy your posts and love a good debate….BTW, we will be watching Obummer get a drumming in a couple of hours.

    • I’m afraid there’s two problems with this. A. You fail to acknowledge that Ron Paul IS a VETERAN. and B. Ron Paul has always been opposed to foreign intervention. He was against it when Bush Sr did it, He was against it when Clinton did it. In his entire career, he’s had the most consistent voting record ever. You can’t associate a man with his supporters either. Obama is supported by the Communist Party USA. Romney has a lot of business ties to communist China and the former Communist Soviet Union. How could anyone be opposed to a man who talks about pure freedom when our two main “candidates” are funded by the same corporations?
